With partners Cliff Asness and David Kabiller, John Liew founded AQR as a hedge fund in 1998. It has become possibly the fastest-growing money manager on earth, with $185 billion of assets under management. Before co-founding AQR in 1998, Liew worked at Goldman Sachs as a portfolio manager, where he developed and managed quantitative trading strategies. He met his wife at the University of Chicago, where he is now a member of the board of trustees and sits on the investment committee. Liew also created the Liew College Fellows Fund to provide financial support for undergraduates who have secured unpaid research opportunities with the University of Chicago’s faculty
