Bahaa Hariri (Arabic: بهاء الحريري) (born 1966) is the eldest son of assassinated former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, brother of Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri and a billionaire. As of 2011 his wealth was estimated at $2.5 billion, making him the 459th richest person in the world.
Education and career
Bahaa Hariri received a bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 1990 and soon thereafter returned to Saudi Arabia to work in his family’s construction and development company, Saudi Oger, Ltd. In 2008, he was separated from his family’s business and now runs his own real estate and investment vehicle from Switzerland. He is also the chairman of the Al-Abdali Project in Jordan.
Hariri founded the property development company Horizon Group
- Bahaa Hariri is the eldest son of slain Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri; he inherited his fortune from his father, who was a billionaire.
- In 2008, he sold his stake in Saudi Oger, the family construction business, to his brother Saad Hariri, the current prime minister of Lebanon.
- Bahaa Hariri founded and chairs Horizon Group, a real estate holding company with investments in Amman, Jordan and Beirut, Lebanon.
- He helped revitalize an area of Amman, called Abdali. The project, in partnership with the Jordanian government, is worth an estimated $5 billion.
- He’s the majority owner of Globe Express Services, a logistics company with a presence in more than 100 countries.
