Andrei Rappoport worked for two billionaires before becoming one himself. After graduating from university in Ukraine, he moved to Russia and soon became chairman of billionaire Mikhail Fridman’s Alfa-Bank, a post he held from 1992 to 1996. He then became first vice president of former billionaire Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s YUKOS-Rosprom. He was later deputy chairman and a board member of RAO UES, a former electric power holding company, for a decade. After leaving RAO, Rappoport bought Georgian Global Utilities, a key Georgian water and power company, which he has sold to BGEO Group in 2016. He is a Russian master of sports in high-speed pistol shooting.
