About Aristotelis Mistakidis
Aristotelis Mistakidis is the second richest person in Greece and he has an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes. He was ranked 527th in the list of World Billionaires. Also known as Telis, he is a citizen of both the United Kingdom and a native of Greece. He earned his billionaire status in May 2011 with the initial public offering of Glencore, a multinational commodity trading company based in Baar, Switzerland. In the spring of 2011, the firm went public. It announced in February 2012 of the plans to merge with mining outfit Xstrata despite its shares has dropped in value by 20%. The merging of the two massive companies is expected to result in a control of a vast empire of mining and marketing which is valued at $90 billion.
Mistakidis holds a bachelor’s degree in economics that he earned from the London School of Economics. After graduation, he started working for Cargill and served in the firm’s private commodities division. In the early 90’s, after six years, he moved Marc Rich & Co. which is now known as Glencore. In the course of his seven years in the company, he has worked in the zinc, copper, and lead division then moved all the way up to co-director in 2000.
