She was married to D. Wayne Gittinger (1933–2014), a pitcher on the Husky baseball team from Kellogg, Idaho. After graduating from UW in 1954 and its law school in 1957, he was a partner in the Seattle law firm Lane Powell and a former Nordstrom director. They had two children, and lived in Seattle.

Anne Gittinger has an 11% stake in Nordstrom, the department store chain founded by her grandfather in 1901. Originally a shoe shop, Nordstrom has long since diversified and now operates 121 full-line stores, 200 Nordstrom Racks and two Jeffrey boutiques. Its website reaches customers in 96 countries. Nephews Blake, Peter and Erik run the company now, while Gittinger oversees some of the company’s charitable donations.
